Are You Playing With A Strong Hand?

Playing A Strong Hand.png

Have you ever asked the question, “Why should I care about my health?”

Or made this statement, “My grandfather died when he was 97! He smoked, drank, ate all kinds of foods and was sharper than most people I know right up until he died!”

If this is you, or if you know someone like this, here is a way of explaining why caring about your health and lifestyle matter.

Texas Hold’em Poker (THP)!

Stay with us here. In THP, the worse possible hand you can start with is a 2-7 off suit. This means that you have the least possible chance of winning that hand. The odds are against you. Yes, every now and then some get lucky and win with this hand, but statistically the odds against it are very strong. In contrast the best starting hand is pocket Aces. There are a bunch of other starting hands in between on both ends of the spectrum.

Paying attention to your health and the quality of your lifestyle can be likened to playing poker, or any other game for that matter.

Sure you can, “Go all in”, on a crappy hand or you can play when the odds are in your favor.

Meaning you can eat all kinds of processed foods, drink and smoke till you’re busting at the seams, veg out on the couch wasting your time watching “Reality” TV, drifting aimlessly through life like a cog in a machine, or you can eat more whole foods (mostly plants), get your body moving, play with friends and work on finding your life’s passion along the way. And, you still get to do and enjoy the things you love, it’s just that your relationship to them changes.

We’ve been there done that, and believe us when we tell you, it’s worth playing your best hands. The quality of your life increases exponentially as you do so.

Just because your grandfather won the longevity-do-whatever-I-want-life-lottery, doesn’t mean that you’ll have the same hand dealt to you. Do what you want by all means. We’re merely suggesting that it’s smarter to play and live in a way where you’re stacking the odds in your favor as often as possible.

There are no guarantees in life, that much is a given, but we can try to stack the odds in our favor to help us ensure the best possible outcome. Stay tuned for our video on this very subject.

So what do you think... did this make the whole healthy, lifestyle thing any clearer?

If so, got any Aces in your hand?
